CM Yogi inaugurates SBI Foundation ICU Project at SGPGI, Lucknow

SBI Foundation grants Rs 10 Crore to SGPGI for children’s advanced heart treatment

Lucknow- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Monday, inaugurated the SBI Foundation ICU Project at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow. The project will function under the Saloni Heart Center, a specialized facility dedicated to the treatment of congenital heart diseases in children. On this occasion, the SBI Foundation extended support of Rs 10 crore, which will be utilized to equip the center with advanced medical technology and essential resources.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, the Chief Minister said, “For a long time, Uttar Pradesh lacked advanced facilities for the treatment of pediatric heart diseases. In this context, the establishment of the Saloni Heart Center has been a landmark achievement. Since its inauguration 18 months ago, the center has successfully performed more than 300 pediatric heart surgeries. While the first phase is fully operational, work on the second phase is progressing swiftly.”


The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of  Mili Seth and  Himanshu Seth, founders of the Saloni Heart Foundation, acknowledged the crucial contribution of the SBI Foundation. He said, “The Saloni Heart Center has emerged as a beacon of hope for thousands of families, adding that the project is a direct outcome of the Global Investors Summit 2023, and has proved immensely effective in saving children’s lives.”

 

Drawing a parallel with the state’s success in eradicating encephalitis, the Chief Minister emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is now making significant strides in tackling pediatric heart diseases. He expressed confidence that SBI Foundation’s support will further strengthen the capabilities of the Saloni Heart Center and transform it into a milestone institution for child healthcare.

On the occasion, SGPGI Director Dr. R.K. Dhiman briefed the Chief Minister about the center’s journey, activities, and achievements since its inception.

The event was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, along with senior officials from the Saloni Foundation, SBI, SGPGI, and the Health Department.
