President Droupadi Murmu Administers Oath of Office to Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan

New Delhi, 12 September 2025: In a distinguished ceremony held at Ganatantra Mandap, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President of India,  Droupadi Murmu, administered the Oath of Office of Vice President of India to  C. P. Radhakrishnan today. This formal event marks a significant moment in the country’s constitutional framework, as  Radhakrishnan assumes the second-highest constitutional position in India.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by several eminent dignitaries, including Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and senior officials of the Government of India. The event was conducted with full adherence to protocol and ceremonial traditions of Rashtrapati Bhavan.  Radhakrishnan, upon taking the oath, pledged to uphold the Constitution of India and perform his duties with integrity, impartiality, and dedication to public service.

President Murmu, while administering the oath, highlighted the importance of the Vice President’s role in strengthening democratic institutions and supporting the legislative process in India. She emphasized that the Vice President, as the ex-officio Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, plays a crucial role in facilitating debates, ensuring orderly functioning, and upholding the values of parliamentary democracy.

 C. P. Radhakrishnan expressed his gratitude to the President and the citizens of India for entrusting him with this responsibility. In his brief address following the oath-taking, he reiterated his commitment to serve the nation with honesty, impartiality, and a focus on strengthening India’s democratic principles.

The ceremony also formed part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, which commemorate India’s 75 years of independence and honor the country’s democratic and constitutional legacy.
