Davos: Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Azim Premji has welcomed Jharkhand’s development vision at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, praising the state’s forward-looking and socially responsible approach under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Presenting itself as a young and progressive state, Jharkhand highlighted a development model rooted in harmony with nature, social responsibility, and inclusive growth. Commending this approach, Premji, former Chairman of Wipro Limited and current Chairman of the Azim Premji Foundation, said it was encouraging to see the state pursuing its priorities with clarity, seriousness, and strong institutional commitment.
Premji underscored the Foundation’s long-term investments in Jharkhand, reflecting deep confidence in the state’s future. He said the Foundation is in the process of establishing a university, a medical college, a 1,300-bed hospital, and a school in the Itki region of Ranchi, marking a major investment in education and healthcare infrastructure.
Appreciating the state government’s role, he noted that the Foundation has received consistent support and cooperation from the Jharkhand administration throughout the engagement process. Describing the experience as positive and collaborative, Premji extended an open invitation to investors from India and across the world to explore opportunities in Jharkhand.
Expressing optimism about the state’s trajectory, he conveyed his best wishes for Jharkhand’s continued progress and inclusive development.
Notably, the Azim Premji Foundation’s integrated education and healthcare campus in Itki, Ranchi—comprising a university, medical college, a 1,300-bed hospital, and a school—is among the largest social infrastructure initiatives currently underway in Jharkhand, significantly strengthening the state’s long-term human development ecosystem.
