South Korean actor Woo Do Hwan is back in action with the much-awaited sequel to Bloodhounds 2, reprising his role as the intense yet compassionate boxer Gun Woo.
Despite his powerful on-screen presence, the actor reveals he isn’t particularly drawn to boxing in real life. Speaking during a virtual interaction from Seoul, he shared that away from the camera, he prefers a calm and relaxed lifestyle over physically demanding sports.
Reflecting on his return to the series, Woo said that Gun Woo remains deeply personal to him even years after the first season’s success in 2023. He described the character as someone who blends physical strength with emotional sensitivity — a contrast that resonates strongly with audiences.
He added that while he may not match the character’s intensity, he relates to the belief in perseverance and giving one’s best effort in every situation.
The latest season, directed by Kim Joo Hwan, introduces a formidable opponent played by Rain. The latter portrays a ruthless boxer running an underground fight club, setting the stage for gripping action sequences.
Woo revealed that both actors dedicated significant time to rehearsing their fight scenes, ensuring that every move looked realistic and impactful. He also expressed admiration for his co-star, acknowledging his experience and guidance throughout the shoot.
The 33-year-old actor, known for projects like The King: Eternal Monarch and The Divine Fury, shared his excitement about his growing fanbase in India.
When asked about the possibility of working in Indian cinema, Woo responded positively, stating that he would be keen to explore opportunities if the right story and circumstances come together.
Since making his debut with The Great Seducer, Woo has built a career defined by diverse and impactful roles. Most recently seen in Mr. Plankton, he says his approach to acting has evolved with time.
He emphasized that beyond performance, he focuses on the message each project delivers, aiming to connect with audiences on a deeper level.
