In an age where artificial intelligence, instant messaging, and digital convenience define everyday life, an unexpected trend is quietly taking over the minds of India’s Gen Z: a renewed interest in astrology and religion.
Once considered traditional or even outdated by tech-savvy youth, practices like horoscope readings, birth chart analysis, and spiritual rituals are now seeing a massive comeback — and it’s not just curiosity. Young Indians are turning to astrology and faith as tools to find clarity in an increasingly chaotic world.
The COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a tipping point. As job losses, emotional instability, and health uncertainties took a toll on millions, many found comfort and direction in the stars.
According to Sidhharrth S Kumaar, astrologer and relationship coach at NumroVani, Gen Z clients are asking deeper, existential questions.
“A 25-year-old once asked me, ‘Why am I here?’ Their birth chart revealed a strong inclination towards philosophy and teaching. They left the session in tears—not out of sadness, but relief. They finally felt seen,” he told.
With the rise of astrology apps, social media astrologers, and chat-based consultations, getting spiritual advice is now just a tap away. Whether it’s choosing a wedding date or navigating a breakup, astrology has become a daily part of decision-making for many.
A 2024 NumroVani study reveals:
This digital convenience has turned astrology into a multi-million-dollar wellness industry in India, driven largely by Gen Z and millennials.
Interestingly, this shift is coming from the same generation expected to adopt rational, science-first mindsets. Instead, many are blending tech with tradition, seeking purpose and stability through a spiritual lens.
What was once passed down through grandparents is now trending on Instagram reels, Telegram groups, and AI-powered astrology bots.
