Bharat Parv showcases India’s cultural strength and tourism potential: Vice-President

New Delhi, January 31, 2026: India’s cultural diversity and growing tourism strength took centre stage as Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the concluding ceremony of Bharat Parv 2026 at the Red Fort Lawns in the national capital on Saturday evening. The week-long celebration, organised by the Ministry of Tourism as part of Republic Day festivities, brought together traditions, art forms, cuisines and travel destinations from across the country.

Addressing the audience, the Vice President described Bharat Parv as an immersive celebration that captures the enduring essence of India. He said the festival carried forward the patriotic spirit of the 77th Republic Day while presenting a living portrait of the nation through the participation of States and Union Territories.

He remarked that the Republic Day Parade remains a symbol of national harmony, collective strength and forward-looking progress. Praising the tableaux displayed during the parade, he said they showcased the story of a modern and self-assured India moving steadily toward the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The Vice President also pointed out that this year holds historic importance as the country marks 150 years of the iconic song ‘Vande Mataram’. He noted that the song once fueled India’s freedom movement and continues to inspire deep respect and emotional connection to the nation.

Emphasising the idea of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” he said Bharat Parv serves as a unifying platform where the country’s crafts, food traditions and artistic heritage come together. He mentioned cultural exchange initiatives like the Kashi Tamil Sangamam as examples of how India’s civilisational ties remain strong across regions.

Speaking about progress in the current Amrit Kaal, the Vice President said India’s transformation is visible in improved infrastructure, rapid digital adoption, wider financial access, expanded social welfare measures, greater participation of women in development, and rising innovation among youth. He added that the surge in domestic tourism—crossing hundreds of crores of visits in the past year—reflects growing enthusiasm among citizens to explore the nation’s heritage and landscapes.

He further highlighted that major investments in transport and tourism facilities are boosting regional balance. Expanded highways, modern railway services such as Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, new airports, and upgraded amenities at pilgrimage and heritage locations are improving access to previously remote regions, including the North-East.
