Uttam Nagar Murder Victim’s Family Seeks Strict Punishment for Accused

Mother of slain youth demands strong action as investigation continues into Holi clash

New Delhi, March 16: The mother of 26-year-old Tarun, who lost his life during a violent clash between neighbours in Uttam Nagar in the national capital, has demanded strict punishment for those responsible, saying the family will find peace only when the accused are brought to justice.

Speaking to reporters, Tarun’s mother, Sunita, said the family has not received clear information about the action taken so far and claimed they have not been shown the people who were reportedly detained by police in connection with the incident. She urged authorities to take strong action against the culprits.

The confrontation reportedly began during Holi celebrations earlier this month when a balloon filled with water accidentally fell from the second floor of the family’s house. According to the victim’s mother, the incident triggered an argument with a neighbour, which soon escalated.

She alleged that shortly after the dispute, a group of people gathered near their home and the situation turned violent. Members of the family were allegedly attacked with sticks and other objects, resulting in serious injuries. Tarun was reportedly assaulted during the clash and later died from his injuries.

Tarun’s father also demanded severe punishment for those involved and thanked people who have joined protests seeking justice for his son. He maintained that the family had no previous conflict with the neighbours and said the dispute unexpectedly escalated into a deadly altercation.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court recently directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi not to demolish properties linked to the accused until the court takes up the matter for further hearing.

According to police officials, the incident took place on March 4 after a disagreement during Holi festivities turned into a violent clash between two groups, leading to Tarun’s death. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
