SSC Aspirants’ Protest at Ramlila Maidan Turns Unruly

New Delhi: A protest organized by SSC aspirants at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, 24th August,2025 witnessed chaos after hundreds of protestors refused to disperse beyond the permitted time.

The demonstration, attended by nearly 1,500 aspirants, was allowed between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. However, around 300 protestors continued to remain at the site even after repeated appeals from ACP Kamlamarket and DCP Central to vacate the ground. Police officials reminded the agitators that Section 163 BNSS was in force and any gathering beyond the stipulated hours would be unlawful.

Despite multiple warnings, nearly 100 protestors refused to leave. In the process of dispersal, police detained 40 individuals, while others dispersed gradually. During the incident, five police personnel, including three women constables, sustained injuries due to aggressive behavior by some protestors. Authorities confirmed that no lathi charge was conducted.

Legal action has been initiated, with an FIR registered under Section 223 B of BNS (formerly 188 IPC). In light of the violation of conditions, the permission earlier granted for another protest on August 25, 2025, has been withdrawn.
