Shambhavi Sharma’s dance therapy session brings comfort and relief at Primus Super Speciality Hospital

Kuchipudi performance under her ‘Nrityamrit’ initiative offers patients peace and emotional healing

New Delhi: Under her dance therapy initiative Nrityamrit, Shambhavi Sharma organized a special session at the OPD ward of Primus Super Speciality Hospital, Chanakyapuri. Through classical dance, her efforts continue to touch hearts, promoting mental and emotional healing. In this session, she presented a Kuchipudi performance, a form she learned from her revered gurus, Padma Bhushan awardees Raja and Radha Reddy. Patients and their accompanying family members watched with deep interest and calm, as the presentation brought a unique sense of relief to the hospital environment.

“As soon as I began dancing, I felt a shift in the ward’s energy,” said Shambhavi. “There was curiosity, but more than that, a pause—a peace—that perhaps was much needed there.”

Following the session, several patients shared their experiences including Tina said, “I was under stress and in pain, but after watching this dance, it felt as though my pain had gone. I now feel calmer and lighter.” Another participant, Tanya, added, “More such sessions should be held in hospitals.”

They bring relief to both the heart and mind.” Through Nrityamrit, Shambhavi is connecting traditional Indian art with healthcare where dance is not only a stage performance but also a medium for mental well-being and emotional balance.
