New Delhi – Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer SBK Singh today officially assumed charge as the Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The ceremony took place at the Delhi Police Headquarters, marking the beginning of his tenure as the top cop of the national capital.
SBK Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, brings with him over three decades of distinguished service in various capacities across the country. Known for his strategic leadership and commitment to public safety, Singh has held several critical positions including Special Commissioner (Law & Order) and Joint Commissioner (Crime) in Delhi Police.

Upon assuming charge, Commissioner Singh expressed gratitude for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining law and order, enhancing citizen-police engagement, and strengthening internal security mechanisms. He also emphasized the importance of modern policing, community outreach, and technology-driven investigations to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving metropolis.


The outgoing Commissioner, Sanjay Arora, formally handed over the baton to SBK Singh, congratulating him and wishing him success in his new role. Senior officers and staff members of Delhi Police were present at the ceremony.
Commissioner Singh’s appointment comes at a time when Delhi continues to address complex challenges in policing, urban security, and law enforcement coordination. His leadership is expected to bring renewed focus on transparency, accountability, and efficient policing.
