Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ Revamped With Fresh Storyline After Major Reshoots

Film shifts away from real-life conflict backdrop as makers rework narrative

Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi is reportedly undergoing significant changes, including extensive reshoots and a reworked storyline.

Initially conceived as a film inspired by the Galwan Valley clash, the project has now moved away from direct references to real-world events. Earlier known as Battle of Galwan, the film has been retitled and reshaped to adopt a more fictional approach.

Reports suggest that portions of the storyline linked to geopolitical elements have been altered, with the narrative now focusing more broadly on themes of courage, sacrifice, and human relationships.

According to sources, a substantial portion of the film — nearly 40% — has been reshot. The revised version is said to include additional character depth, emotional arcs, and personal backstories to balance the action-heavy plot.

The makers are believed to have submitted an updated version for review, though discussions around the project are still ongoing.

The film had earlier generated attention after its teaser depicted intense combat sequences resembling real-life tensions in Eastern Ladakh. This led to reactions internationally, with some criticism over its portrayal of sensitive issues.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced under Salman Khan Films, the movie features Salman Khan in the role of an Indian Army officer.

The revamped version aims to present a gripping war drama while also highlighting emotional storytelling elements. The official release date is yet to be announced.
