Rajnath Singh: Aatmanirbhar Bharat Aims to Make India a Global Source of High-Quality Products

Defence Minister inaugurates Tata Advanced Systems’ state-of-the-art facility in Morocco, emphasizing self-reliance, strategic autonomy, and international collaboration

Berrechid [Morocco] – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat during his visit to Morocco, stating that the initiative is not limited to domestic manufacturing but also aims to make India a credible source of advanced technology and high-quality products globally.

Singh, alongside Morocco’s Defence Minister Abdelatif Loudyi, inaugurated Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) new defence manufacturing facility in Berrechid. Spread over 20,000 square metres, the facility will produce the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) 8×8, developed jointly by TASL and DRDO.

“The goal of our self-reliant India is not only to manufacture for its own needs but to create an ecosystem where India becomes a credible source of advanced technology and high-quality products for the world,” Singh said. He emphasized the Make in India and Make with Friends initiatives, aiming to collaborate with trusted partners for global innovation under the ‘Make for the World’ framework.

The facility demonstrates India’s ability to meet domestic requirements while supporting friendly nations’ defence capabilities. Singh added that such partnerships, grounded in trust, respect, and shared aspirations, strengthen bilateral ties and global peace. This visit marks the first-ever trip by an Indian Defence Minister to Morocco.
