Railways partners in national health initiative for women and children, conducts mega blood donation drive, and begins fortnight-long cleanliness campaign across stations.

New Delhi, September 17, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”, a historic initiative to strengthen healthcare and nutrition services for women, adolescent girls, and children across India. The Ministry of Railways has joined as a partner ministry, furthering its commitment to national welfare alongside the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development.

At the Northern Railway Central Hospital, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw marked the occasion by donating blood during a mega blood donation drive organized under Seva Parv. Senior officials including Satish Kumar, Chairman & CEO of the Railway Board, and Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager of Northern Railway, were also present, underlining the Railway Ministry’s support to the campaign.

The “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” initiative will provide health screenings for anemia, hypertension, diabetes, and other conditions, ensuring early detection and treatment at the community level. “The health of our women is the foundation of a strong family and a strong nation,” said Ms. Rushma Tandon, CMD, Northern Railway Central Hospital.

Continuing its service-driven initiatives, the Ministry of Railways also launched the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Campaign 2025 at Ajmeri Gate, New Delhi Railway Station. The campaign was inaugurated by Satish Kumar, who administered the cleanliness pledge to officials and employees. He, along with senior railway staff, participated in Shramdaan to clean station premises.

The two-week campaign, culminating on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, will see cleanliness drives, awareness activities, and active public participation across the railway network. Secretary of the Railway Board Ms. Aruna Nayar also administered the cleanliness pledge at Rail Bhavan.

Together, these initiatives reflect Indian Railways’ role in nation-building by advancing health, nutrition, and sanitation for citizens, in alignment with the vision of Seva, Swasthya, and Swachhta.
