National Agriculture Conference for Rabi 2025 Opens in New Delhi with ‘One Nation–One Agriculture–One Team’ Vision

Officers should add value in their work, we are concerned about farmers and farming, for which we will work with all our heart and soul - Shivraj Singh

New Delhi, September 15, 2025 — The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated a two-day National Agriculture Conference for the Rabi Campaign 2025 at Pusa, New Delhi, focusing on the theme “One Nation–One Agriculture–One Team.” This is the first time the conference is being held as a two-day event, initiated by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In his address, Chouhan pledged that India will face no shortage of food grains, fruits, or vegetables and aims to make the nation the “food basket of the world.” He credited the country’s 3.7 percent agricultural growth rate—among the highest globally—to the combined efforts of farmers, scientists, and supportive government policies.

The minister emphasized close cooperation between state and central governments to strengthen farming outcomes, while assuring strict action against fake fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. Only biostimulants that pass all quality tests will be permitted for sale. Chouhan also urged officials to expand crop-insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and to accelerate relief in flood-affected areas.

Highlighting the need for research that directly benefits farmers, he announced the upcoming Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and called for more practical agricultural research focused on problem-solving rather than mere academic publication.

Senior officials from the Centre and states, ICAR scientists, agricultural experts, and farmer representatives are attending the conference, which includes six breakout sessions to set production targets and strategies for the Rabi season.

Chouhan concluded by encouraging officers to “add value” to their work and reaffirmed that both government and farmers share the mission of building a resilient, sustainable agricultural future.
