New Delhi– The festive spirit of Raksha Bandhan reached the Prime Minister’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, as Narendra Modi welcomed children for a heartwarming celebration. The occasion was marked by moments of joy, laughter, and the timeless cultural tradition of tying rakhis, symbolising the bond of love, protection, and mutual respect.
Children from different backgrounds visited the Prime Minister’s residence to personally tie rakhis to him. Each rakhi, delicately adorned with colourful threads and beads, carried with it a message of goodwill, affection, and prayers for his well-being. The Prime Minister interacted warmly with the young visitors, sharing smiles, blessings, and small conversations that reflected his ease in connecting with the younger generation.

In keeping with the spirit of the festival, Modi took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude towards the women of India, whom he fondly referred to as Nari Shakti. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), he shared glimpses from the day’s celebrations along with a personal message of thanks. “Here are highlights from a very special Raksha Bandhan celebration earlier today. Gratitude to our Nari Shakti for their continuous trust and affection,” he wrote, capturing the essence of the moment.
The Prime Minister’s acknowledgment of Nari Shakti not only reflected his appreciation for women’s contributions to the nation but also underlined the role of women in shaping India’s social and cultural fabric. For him, Raksha Bandhan is more than just a traditional exchange of rakhis — it is a reaffirmation of trust, care, and the sacred relationship between sisters and brothers, one that extends beyond family ties to encompass the leader and the people he serves.

Photographs and short video clips released from the event showed children tying rakhis on the Prime Minister’s wrist, offering sweets, and sharing lighthearted moments. The images quickly spread across social media, with many praising the simplicity and warmth of the gathering.
Raksha Bandhan, a festival celebrated across India, signifies the promise of protection and the unbreakable bond between siblings. By celebrating it in such a personal and inclusive way, the Prime Minister added a touch of national unity to the occasion, blending cultural tradition with a message of collective harmony.
This year’s celebration at the Prime Minister’s residence not only reinforced the emotional significance of the festival but also became a symbol of mutual respect between leadership and citizens — a bond as enduring as the sacred thread itself.
