Prime Minister highlights energy security and infrastructure growth while addressing programme in Kerala

Kochi, March 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said expanding India’s petroleum and energy sector is crucial for achieving the goal of a self-reliant India, emphasising the importance of strengthening domestic infrastructure and energy security.

Addressing a programme in Kerala, the Prime Minister noted that investments in the petroleum sector not only support industrial growth but also generate employment and boost economic development across regions. He said modern energy infrastructure plays a vital role in meeting the country’s rising demand for fuel and supporting rapid urban and industrial expansion.

Modi also highlighted several ongoing and newly launched projects aimed at improving energy distribution and transportation networks. According to him, such initiatives will help ensure reliable fuel supply while reducing logistical challenges in the sector.

The Prime Minister said India is steadily moving towards strengthening its energy ecosystem through advanced technology, improved refining capacity, and better connectivity between production centres and consumption hubs.

He added that expanding petroleum infrastructure will contribute significantly to the country’s long-term development goals and reinforce India’s path towards economic self-sufficiency.
