Government Reopens Applications for PLI Scheme on White Goods

Application Window: Open 15 Sept – 14 Oct 2025 on the PLIWG portal.

New Delhi, 14 September 2025 – The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has announced that the application portal for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods—covering air conditioners and LED lighting—will accept fresh submissions from 15 September to 14 October 2025.

The decision follows strong industry interest and reflects the confidence generated by domestic manufacturing of AC and LED components under the scheme. Applications can be filed through the official portal: https://pliwg.dpiit.gov.in/. No entries will be accepted after the closing date.

The reopening follows the original provisions of the PLI White Goods (PLI-WG) Scheme notified on 16 April 2021 and its subsequent guidelines dated 4 June 2021, along with later amendments.

Who Can Apply

  • New participants as well as current beneficiaries seeking to invest more—either by upgrading to a higher investment category or through group companies in other target segments—are eligible.
  • Applicants must meet the criteria listed in Para 5.6 of the scheme guidelines and comply with the investment schedules in Appendix-1/1A.
  • Successful applicants in this fourth round will receive incentives only for the remaining tenure of the scheme:
    • Up to two years for new applicants or for those moving to Group 2 (GP-2, up to March 2023).
    • Up to one year for beneficiaries shifting to Group 1 (GP-1, up to March 2022).
    • Flexibility to revert to the original investment plan is allowed once if annual targets are not met.

Launched with a ₹6,238-crore outlay and running from FY 2021-22 to FY 2028-29, the PLI-WG initiative supports local production of key AC and LED components—many of which are not yet widely manufactured in India. To date, 83 companies have committed investments of ₹10,406 crore under the scheme.

For full details, applicants can refer to the Consolidated Guidelines and the original notification.
