New Delhi, Nov 14,2023 – Union Minister Piyush Goyal, overseeing Commerce, Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, embarked on an official visit to San Francisco, USA, starting on November 13, 2023. The visit commenced with a tour of the Tesla Factory Unit in Fremont, where the Minister engaged with senior executives of the Tesla group.
During the day, Minister Goyal conducted bilateral meetings with notable figures including Her Excellency Ambassador Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative, His Excellency Mr. Dukgeun Ahn, Minister of Trade, Republic of Korea, and His Excellency Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Trade and Industry, Singapore.
In these meetings, discussions revolved around potential collaboration under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), strategies to enhance bilateral trade, matters related to the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other mutual interests. Minister Goyal proposed the expedited conclusion of the review of AITIGA and CEPA during interactions with counterparts from Singapore and South Korea.
Additionally, the Minister participated in an Investors Round Table in collaboration with USISPF & Indiaspora. The event brought together venture capitalists and entrepreneurs from various industries in the US, fostering interactive discussions about India’s business environment. Minister Goyal highlighted the Indian government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business in the country.
The ongoing visit includes participation in the third in-person IPEF Ministerial meeting and engagements with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Minister Goyal is set to interact with business leaders, US officials, and industry representatives to strengthen economic ties between the two nations
