Delhi Secretariat Hosts ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ Ceremony; Rekha Gupta Honoured with Traditional Floral Fan

New Delhi, 16 March 2026A vibrant cultural moment unfolded at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday when a ceremonial programme was organised in connection with the historic celebration of Phool Walon Ki Sair. The atmosphere turned festive with the soulful sound of the shehnai, creating a setting filled with tradition and symbolism.

As part of the occasion, representatives of Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan extended a customary welcome to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. In keeping with age-old practice, they presented the traditional floral hand-fan, a hallmark of this centuries-old cultural event. The live musical performance further enhanced the dignity and spirit of the gathering, reflecting the deep-rooted heritage associated with the festival.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, along with other senior officials and guests, attended the ceremony and witnessed the proceedings.

Addressing those present, the Chief Minister highlighted that this celebration stands as a living example of the capital’s inclusive traditions and long-standing culture of mutual respect. She emphasized that such events showcase the essence of unity that has historically defined the city’s social fabric. According to her, preserving these customs is essential to keeping Delhi’s identity alive for future generations.

She further stated that the government remains committed to safeguarding and encouraging cultural initiatives that connect young people with their historical roots. Events like this, she added, strengthen community bonds and promote peaceful coexistence across society.

 

Minister Kapil Mishra also underlined the importance of the festival in maintaining Delhi’s shared heritage. He described it as a meaningful tradition that spreads a message of togetherness while allowing youth to experience the richness of the city’s artistic and cultural legacy.

The ongoing edition of Phool Walon Ki Sair 2026, scheduled from 15 to 21 March, includes a variety of cultural, religious, and community programmes being organised at different locations throughout the capital, celebrating harmony and collective participation across Delhi
