Amit Shah on Operation Sindoor: India Crossed 100 Km Inside Pakistan, Eliminated 125 Terrorists in Retaliation to Pahalgam Attack

Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly defended Operation Sindoor, citing India’s proactive stance against terror threats emanating from PoK.

New Delhi- In a fiery address during a special session in the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah detailed India’s powerful response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, revealing that under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces crossed 100 kilometers into Pakistan and eliminated over 125 terrorists and their hideouts.

The operation, personally directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was launched in response to the targeted killing of 26 civilians, including one Nepali national, by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region. A coordinated follow-up effort, dubbed Operation Mahadev, saw the successful elimination of the three perpetrators—Suleman alias Faizal Jatt, Hamza Afghani, and Zibran—by a joint team of the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police.

Three ‘A’ category LeT terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam massacre were neutralized in Dachigam on July 28.

Rifles used in the attack were forensically matched with weapons seized from the terrorists.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the shelter providers and confirmed their identities with eyewitnesses and FSL reports.

Intelligence and surveillance efforts began on May 22, with final confirmation and execution on July 28.

Amit Shah confirmed that Indian forces crossed 100 km into Pakistan, targeting terror hubs without harming civilians. “This was a targeted anti-terror strike, not a war,” he clarified, noting that the Indian Air Force destroyed 11 Pakistani air bases in retaliation to cross-border shelling by Pakistan after the operation.

In a major diplomatic move, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, revoked SAARC visas for Pakistani nationals, and reduced Pakistani diplomatic staff strength from 55 to 30. These measures were part of the Cabinet Committee on Security’s swift response post-Pahalgam.

Comparing data, Shah said terrorist incidents have fallen by 70% from 2004–2014 to 2015–2025. Civilian deaths dropped from 1,770 to 357, and security personnel deaths from 1,060 to 542. He credited the abrogation of Article 370, enhanced tech-enabled surveillance, and zero tolerance policy as game-changers.

Shah accused the Opposition of weakening India’s counter-terror efforts, highlighting the repeal of POTA in 2004, a move he said emboldened terror outfits. He alleged the Opposition questioned proof of Pakistani involvement and gave them a “clean chit” despite concrete evidence—from Pakistani voter IDs, to Pakistan-made chocolates, to rifle forensics.

He also blamed Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for historic policy missteps—from the ceasefire in 1948 that allowed the creation of POK, to returning 15,000 sq km of land in 1971, to China’s UNSC membership and Aksai Chin loss in 1962.

Under the Modi government:

Stone pelting incidents have reduced from 2,654 per year to zero.

Strikes called by Pakistan have ceased entirely since 2022.

Over 75 terrorist supporters removed from government jobs.

2,260 UAPA cases filed and 374 properties seized.

Terrorists are now buried on-site, with no public funerals.

Shah added that over 98% of court trials are now done via video conferencing, 702 illegal phone sellers have been jailed, and 2,666 SIM cards blocked used for terror coordination.

Emphasizing a youth-first policy, Shah reiterated that talks will no longer be held with Hurriyat, once treated with red-carpet welcomes. “Hurriyat is a terror-linked body. We talk to Kashmir’s youth, not Pakistan’s proxies,” he declared.

“From surgical strikes after Uri to air strikes after Pulwama and now Operation Sindoor post-Pahalgam—Modi government has redefined India’s anti-terror doctrine,” Shah said. He added that the revenge of 140 crore Indians has been delivered, exposing Pakistan globally and proving that India will no longer tolerate state-sponsored terrorism.
