Nuh: Acting on the directions of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, a permanent solution to the persistent waterlogging problem in the Indri Sub-Tehsil area of Nuh district is now underway. Chief Minister had taken serious note of the issue, especially during the monsoon season, and continuously monitored the progress of remedial work.
Thanks to his active intervention, along with the dedicated efforts of the Irrigation Department, approximately 1,500 acres of land across villages including Hasanpur Sohna, Kira, and Manuvas will soon be free from recurring waterlogging issues. As part of the solution, the department has constructed seven sump wells including three in Hasanpur Sohna, one in Kira, and three in Manuvas.
These sump wells have been strategically connected to drainage systems such as Nuh Drain and Dubalu Minor, through newly laid pipelines. This infrastructure will help discharge excess rainwater effectively, preventing damage to agricultural fields and standing crops during heavy rainfall.
Executive Engineer Mukul Kathuria of the Irrigation Department informed that the sump wells were constructed as part of a pilot project, initiated on direct orders from the Chief Minister. The objective was to provide a permanent and technically sound solution to the long-standing waterlogging problem in the Indri region.
He added that more sump wells can be constructed in the future if needed. The Chief Minister has already conducted four review meetings regarding this issue and has remained deeply engaged in its resolution. Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena has also played a pivotal role by offering continuous guidance, conducting multiple site inspections, and issuing necessary directions to ensure the problem is resolved comprehensively.
The Kira village sump well has already received its electricity connection, while applications for connections for the remaining sump wells have been submitted. The Irrigation Department is actively coordinating with the Power Department to expedite the approvals.
Residents of Hasanpur Sohna village, including Yogesh Sharma, Tushar, Raghunandan, Mukesh Kumar, Jaipal, and Balbir Singh, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena. In a written note to the administration, they thanked the district officials for playing an active role in addressing their decades-old problem by constructing three sump wells in their village.
They shared that for years, their agricultural fields suffered heavy losses due to stagnant rainwater. Now, with the installation of these sump wells, rainwater drainage will be much easier, securing the livelihoods and efforts of local farmers. The villagers also acknowledged that the Chief Minister personally took direct cognizance of their plight, which accelerated the resolution.
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, concerned departments inspected the sites and completed the technical work efficiently and on time. Villagers further noted that this development would not only protect their crops but also address related issues such as muddy roads, foul odors, mosquito infestation, and the threat of waterborne diseases, significantly improving overall living conditions in the area.
