Notorious Snatcher and Vehicle Thief Apprehended by North-West District Police

Delhi, July 10, 2025:In a major success against street crime and motor vehicle theft, the staff of Police Station Ashok Vihar, under North-West District, has arrested one notorious snatcher and auto-lifter, identified as Chandan Singh @ Rahul, aged 25 years, resident of A-Block, near Jagdamba Mandir, WPIA, Delhi. With his arrest, the police have successfully worked out nine theft cases and recovered a significant cache of stolen property.

Recoveries Made:

• Two stolen mobile phones

• One stolen Dell laptop

• Three stolen scooties

• Three stolen motorcycles

On July 7, 2025, at approximately 12:30 PM, while conducting routine picket checking at the underpass in front of Nandan Apartments, Ashok Vihar Phase-I, a police team comprising HC Karanpal and Ct. Bhupesh, led by SI Naveen under the supervision of SHO/Ashok Vihar, intercepted a suspicious scooter rider attempting to evade the picket. After a brief chase, the rider was apprehended.

The individual failed to produce valid documents for the vehicle, and upon verification through ZIPNET, Scooty No. DL-8SCE-6647 was found to be stolen in a case registered under e-FIR No. 015386/25 at PS Shalimar Bagh. Additionally, a blue OPPO mobile phone recovered from his possession was found to be stolen as per e-FIR No. 80052660/25 dated 31/05/2025 at PS Ashok Vihar.

Upon sustained interrogation, the accused Chandan Singh @ Rahul confessed to his involvement in multiple incidents of vehicle and street theft. He admitted that he committed these crimes to earn easy money for sustaining his drug and alcohol addiction.

Subsequent investigation and searches conducted at his instance led to the recovery of additional stolen property, including:

• One Dell laptop

• One golden OPPO mobile phone

• Two additional stolen scooties

• Three stolen motorcycles

Further investigation is underway to identify any other associates and criminal activities linked to the accused.
