New Delhi, June 2- The Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, visited Kerala on June 1, 2025, to review the progress of key highway infrastructure projects in the state. His inspection focused on critical stretches in the Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, especially areas with structural challenges and water drainage concerns that could impact construction quality and long-term public safety. Locations such as Enchakkal, Kazhakuttom, Chembakamangalam, Kottayam, and Mevaram were visited, as these involve high-cut vertical slopes and demand careful evaluation for stability and effective water flow management.

Accompanied by technical experts, project concessionaires, independent engineers, and senior NHAI officials from Kerala, the Chairman assessed on-ground conditions and provided directives to improve implementation. A comprehensive review meeting is also scheduled to be held shortly, bringing together all project directors, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders working on National Highway developments in the state. This meeting aims to push for faster completion timelines, stricter quality control, enhanced monitoring mechanisms, and reduced public inconvenience.

In addition to the project reviews, the NHAI Chairman will meet the Chief Secretary of Kerala to address administrative hurdles and discuss solutions for smoother coordination among government departments and project agencies. The discussion will focus on overcoming key challenges, clearing bottlenecks, and establishing better planning for current and upcoming highway projects.

NHAI has reiterated its commitment to building a world-class national highway network, with a strong emphasis on safety, durability, and user convenience. The authority continues to take proactive steps to ensure that infrastructure projects are completed with high standards and minimal disruption to the public.
