NFDC Launches Free 8-Month VFX & 3D Animation Training Program for Northeast India Youth – Apply by 15 August 2025

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting-backed initiative to skill Northeast youth in 3D animation and VFX

Mumbai– The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has announced a fully-funded residential training program in 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) exclusively for aspiring professionals from the North Eastern region of India. The initiative is designed to nurture local talent and open pathways for youth from the eight northeastern states to enter the fast-growing media and entertainment industry.

The training program will run for eight months at a dedicated, fully equipped facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Aptech Ltd. The course includes six months of intensive classroom instruction in 3D animation and VFX, followed by two months of industry exposure with real-world projects. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a joint certificate from NFDC and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). Selected candidates will also be provided with a high-performance laptop for the duration of the program, along with free residential accommodation, meals, training resources, and mentorship support.

The program is open to individuals who are permanent residents of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, or Tripura. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age as of June 2025 and should have completed 10+2 or have a 10th-grade qualification with at least three years of relevant experience. A nominal non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,180, inclusive of taxes, is applicable for processing applications.

A total of 100 candidates will be selected through a screening and evaluation process. This is the third edition of NFDC’s residential skill development initiative dedicated to the youth of Northeast India. The program is aimed at bridging the regional gap in access to professional training, building a pipeline of skilled digital artists, and creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the animation and VFX sectors. NFDC, a key institution in India’s creative ecosystem, has long been recognized for its contributions to cinema and talent development.
