Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has officially opened its online application portal for PhD admissions for the academic year 2025-26. Aspiring scholars can apply via the university’s official website — jnuee.jnu.ac.in — with the last date for submission set as July 7, 2025, 11:50 PM.
PhD admissions are being offered under three specific categories: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), National Eligibility Test (NET), and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) — the latter being applicable only for the School of Engineering. Candidates must meet both academic qualifications and national-level eligibility requirements as specified in the official e-Prospectus.
It is important to note that applications must be submitted separately for each category — JRF, NET, and GATE. Candidates who do not hold valid scores in these examinations or lack the requisite academic background will not be considered for admission.

To be eligible for admission:
General category candidates must hold a Master’s or MPhil degree with at least 55% marks, or
A four-year undergraduate degree with 75% marks.
Candidates from SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks.
Applications are to be submitted exclusively online, and each applicant may choose up to three programs during the process. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to read the official e-Prospectus carefully before applying.
