Amit Shah Hails Bharat’s Selection as 2029 World Police & Fire Games Host: ‘A Moment of National Pride’

NEW DELHI, 27 JUNE : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday expressed immense pride and joy as India has been designated the host country for the prestigious 2029 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG). Taking to social media platform X, Shah said the announcement marks a significant moment of national pride and international recognition for India.

“It is a moment of great pride for every citizen, as Bharat has been designated as the host country for the prestigious 2029 World Police and Fire Games,” Shah posted. He added that India winning the global bid to host the event is a powerful endorsement of the country’s rapidly developing sports infrastructure, which has flourished under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The biennial World Police and Fire Games is one of the world’s largest sporting events after the Olympics, bringing together over 10,000 athletes from police, fire, and disaster response services to compete in more than 50 sporting disciplines.

Amit Shah also announced that Ahmedabad has been chosen as the venue for the 2029 edition of the Games. He emphasized that the selection of Ahmedabad underscores the city’s growing reputation as a premier sporting destination in India.

“Ahmedabad being selected as the venue of the event that brings together police, fire, and disaster services to compete in more than 50 sports is a testament to the city’s rising stature as a sporting destination,” Shah stated.

He also highlighted that hosting such a global event aligns with the government’s broader vision to make India a global hub for sports and promote camaraderie among international civil services.

The 2029 WPFG will further boost India’s international sporting profile and inspire future generations to embrace discipline, fitness, and public service.
