New Delhi; June 25: Delhi’s Labour Minister Kapil Mishra today chaired an important meeting with the objective of making the functioning of the Labour Department more transparent, accountable, and technologically empowered. The meeting was attended by the Labour Commissioner, Joint Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners at the district level. The primary focus of the meeting was to enhance the use of information technology in the Labour Department and ensure speedy resolution of pending labour-related cases.

During the meeting, Kapil Mishra clearly stated that strengthening information technology is an administrative necessity of the present day. He suggested that a system for virtual hearing (online proceedings) should be implemented in the department at the earliest so that workers can participate in their case hearings without geographical constraints. He added that this is not only the need of the hour but also a major step toward making the justice delivery process accessible and transparent.

The Minister also emphasized that the core responsibility of the Labour Department is to protect the interests of workers. He directed officials to ensure that no worker is subjected to injustice at any level. Whether the issue is related to wages, termination from employment, disputes with management, or compensation matters—every case must be resolved promptly and fairly.

It was also decided in the meeting that the Labour Department’s portal will publish a complete list of all cases, related orders, and departmental decisions. This will provide timely and transparent information to complainants or aggrieved parties and also ensure the department’s accountability.

Kapil Mishra said, “The Delhi Government is fully committed to the welfare of workers. Injustice against even a single worker will not be tolerated. These workers are the foundation of the nation, the true builders of the country. Protecting their rights is our foremost responsibility.”

The Minister further informed that several corrective steps are being taken to simplify departmental procedures, make them more tech-driven, and enhance public utility. He appealed to the officials to conduct regular reviews of departmental functions and to maintain constant communication with workers at the field level.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the officials apprised the Minister of the department’s current operational status, technological infrastructure, and the situation of pending cases.
