MUNICH, 15 JUNE : Indian shooters wrapped up a successful campaign at the ISSF Shooting World Cup 2025 in Munich, clinching a total of four medals — two gold and two bronze — and securing third place in the overall medal tally behind China and Norway.
The highlight of India’s campaign came on Saturday as Arjun Babuta and Arya Borse delivered a stellar performance to win gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The Indian pair defeated China’s Wang Zifei and reigning Olympic champion Sheng Lihao with a commanding 17-7 scoreline in the final. Babuta and Borse had earlier scored 635.2 in the qualification round, finishing just 0.7 points behind the Chinese duo, who topped the standings with 635.9.
This gold adds to Borse’s growing reputation, having earlier secured silver medals in mixed events alongside Rudrankksh Patil at the World Cup legs in Buenos Aires and Lima.
Suruchi Singh also struck gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event, adding another top podium finish for India. Meanwhile, Sift Kaur Samra earned a bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions, and Elavenil Valarivan secured bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event.
Despite strong showings, a few Indian shooters missed out on podium finishes. Two-time Olympian Elavenil, paired with Kiran Jadhav, shot 631.8 to finish sixth in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, partnered with Aditya Malra, also placed sixth in the 10m air pistol mixed team qualifiers with a score of 577, while Suruchi Singh and Varun Tomar finished 10th with 576.
Manu, a double Olympic medalist, was unable to claim individual medals in both the 10m air pistol and 25m events during this tournament. India’s overall performance in Munich reflects a balanced blend of emerging talents and seasoned performers. The next stage of the ISSF World Cup 2025 for rifle and pistol events will take place in Ningbo, China, in September.
India’s performance at the ISSF World Cup 2025 in Munich showcased a promising mix of young talent and experienced shooters. With two gold and two bronze medals, the team secured third place behind China and Norway. Standout performances by Arjun Babuta, Arya Borse, and Suruchi Singh.
