NEW DELHI, 05 JUNE: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, during the inauguration of the Dhanuka Waiting Hall at AIIMS today, stated that AIIMS is not just a hospital, but a prestigious institution that becomes a beacon of hope for those whose treatment options have been exhausted across the country. She mentioned that AIIMS serves more than 6 lakh patients annually through its OPD. She further said that in terms of medical treatment, ICU facilities, admission system, and the dedication of doctors, AIIMS ranks among the country’s top institutions.
The Chief Minister highlighted that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the establishment of 22 new AIIMS across the country is underway, yet AIIMS Delhi holds a unique significance. She said that prior to 2014, the infrastructure and services at AIIMS were quite disorganized, but over the past 10 years, the institution has witnessed remarkable improvements and systematization. Today, its working operations are well-managed, ensuring proper facilities for doctors, nursing staff, patients, and their attendants.
The Chief Minister emphasized the philosophy that “Service to humanity is service to God” and said that when society steps forward to support those in need, it becomes the truest form of worship. She extended heartfelt gratitude to the Dhanuka Group for constructing the new waiting hall at AIIMS at a cost of ₹6 crore and termed it an exemplary CSR initiative. She added that the waiting hall will provide immense relief to thousands of patient attendants who earlier had to wait lying or sitting on the hospital corridors due to lack of space.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta also planted a sapling within the AIIMS campus on the occasion of World Environment Day and reaffirmed the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” pledge. She described this initiative as a vital part of the Delhi Government’s Harit campaign and shared that the our government aims to plant 70 lakh trees this year. She urged citizens to join the initiative in their local areas and turn it into a people’s movement.
Talking about key government objectives such as beautification of Delhi, cleaning of the Yamuna, elimination of landfill sites, and increasing green cover, the Chief Minister said these goals can only be achieved through the combined efforts of both the government and the public. On World Environment Day, she called upon everyone to contribute toward making Delhi a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful city.
She also shared that soon after assuming office as Chief Minister, she had instructed officials to ensure that no posters, banners, or wall paintings—whether of politicians, actors, or common citizens—should deface public walls. “No one has the right to dirty the city,” she firmly stated.
The Chief Minister also informed that a massive campaign is underway across every corner of Delhi to remove waste, debris, and garbage, repair roads and footpaths, and enhance the overall aesthetics of the city. She appealed to the public to actively support the government in this effort.
Chief Minister appreciated and congratulated the doctors and staff of AIIMS, saying it was a matter of pride to dedicate such a magnificent waiting hall to the public. She encouraged other organizations and individuals to come forward and contribute toward nation-building.
She concluded by stating that the dream of a Viksit Delhi and a Viksit India cannot rest solely on the shoulders of the government. It requires a collective effort by both the government and society. Only when both come together with a spirit of service will holistic development of Delhi and the country be possible. Initiatives like this CSR project not only improve public facilities but also help make the city more beautiful and compassionate.
