NEW DELHI, 05 JUNE: In a major breakthrough against street crime, the team of Special Staff, East District, acting on a credible tip-off, successfully apprehended three snatchers—including one CCL from the Gazipur Nala area of East Delhi on 04.06.2025.The accused were intercepted while riding a stolen two-wheeler (Scooty Jupiter, Reg. No. DL 7SBR **). Upon search, a snatched mobile phone was recovered from their possession. Investigation revealed that the phone had been snatched on 22.05.2025 from a Lady Head Constable of Delhi Police near the DCP Office. The swift and coordinated action of the Special Staff underscores Delhi Police’s ongoing commitment to curb street crimes and ensure public safety.
INCIDENT & INVESTGATION: –
In a brazen act that sparked serious concern, a mobile phone was snatched from a Lady Head Constable of Delhi Police on 22.05.2025, right outside the DCP East District Office. The case was registered as FIR No. 175/25 under sections 304(2)/3(5) BNS at PS Madhu Vihar. Given the audacity of the crime and its proximity to a key police facility, the Special Staff of East District was immediately tasked with identifying and apprehending the culprits. A dedicated team was formed under the leadership of Insp. Jitender Malik (I/C Special Staff, East District), comprising HC Manendra, HC Sanoj, HC Naresh, HC Vichitre, HC Shalinder, HC Vinit and HC Himanshu, Ct. Rajeev under the close supervision of Sh. Pawan Kumar, ACP/Ops East District, and overall guidance of senior officials.
The team swiftly developed local intelligence, activated a network of informers, and reviewed extensive CCTV footage from around the DCP office and other vulnerable locations. Focus was also placed on tracking the movements of recently bailed habitual offenders with a history of snatching and theft. Through rigorous surveillance and technical analysis, the involvement of three individuals was established. Acting on the intelligence gathered, the team laid a strategic trap and on 04.06.2025 apprehended the accused—Vivek Goswami, Monu Kumar, and one CCL from the Gazipur Nala area near Kondli Pul. At the time of arrest, the trio was riding a stolen scooty (DL 7SBR **), and the mobile phone snatched from the police official was recovered from their possession. The scooty was also confirmed stolen (E-FIR No. 015518/25, PS Shakarpur). Further interrogation and investigation revealed the group’s involvement in a series of snatching incidents across East District, all committed using stolen two-wheelers. Multiple recoveries have been made as the investigation continues.
MOTIVE OF THE ACCUSED PERSONS:-
The accused committed multiple snatchings primarily for quick financial gain and to fund their personal expenses. They used stolen two-wheelers to execute and evade during these crimes and stored stolen items in a rented hideout, indicating a planned and profit-driven motive.

1. Vivek Goswami R/o Village Mursana, PS Sahkari Nagar, Distt. Bulandshahar (UP) Age: 19 years
Education: 10th Pass
Profession: ITI Student (Bulandshahar, UP)
The accused has a history of involvement in two prior criminal cases
2. Monu Kumar R/o East Vinod Nagar, Delhi (Native: Anoopshahar, Dist. Bulandshahar, UP) Age: 21 years
Education: 9th Pass
Profession: Welding Worker
The accused has a history of involvement in one prior criminal case.
3. CCL T Age: 17 years
RECOVERY: –
• 09 Snatched mobile phones
• 03 recently Stolen Scooty/Motorcycle used in snatching
All stolen property belongs to PS Madhu Vihar, PIA, Kalyanpuri and Laxmi Nagar. The remaining mobile phones are being linked to cases from East District. The accused have confessed to snatching them during May 2025 within the jurisdiction.
