Yogi Adityanath Plants Sapling, Celebrates Ganga Dussehra & World Environment Day in Lucknow

Lucknow, 05 June:  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in a sapling plantation drive in Lucknow under the initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ as part of the celebrations for Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day. During the event, the CM extended his wishes to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh on these significant occasions and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and tree plantation.

Speaking to ANI, CM Yogi described Ganga Dussehra as an auspicious and holy day that holds great significance not only for followers of Sanatan Dharma but for all Indians seeking spiritual fulfillment. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Namami Gange Programme, which aims to rejuvenate and protect the sacred river Ganga. “We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the bottom of our hearts for this,” he said.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Chief Minister addressed the ongoing challenges posed by climate change, emphasizing that these problems are largely man-made and therefore require human effort to resolve. He reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s call to build a strong relationship with nature, a message embodied in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. This initiative encourages citizens to plant trees as a tribute to the environment, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship across the state.

CM Yogi announced that if the monsoon arrives by June 23, which also marks the ‘Balidan Diwas’ of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, a grand tree plantation event will be organized. Additionally, from July 1 to 7, the state will celebrate Van Mahotsav, a week-long festival dedicated to tree planting and forest conservation. The ambitious target for this year is to plant more than 35 crore trees, with the plantation drive continuing until August 15. The CM highlighted that over the last eight years, Uttar Pradesh has planted approximately 210 crore trees, with an impressive 75-80 percent survival rate.

Apart from environmental initiatives, CM Yogi is also set to participate in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Darbar idols on the first floor of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Sharing his excitement on social media, he described this event as a momentous occasion symbolizing ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ (One India, Excellent India). He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Today, in the holy birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya Dham, I am fortunate to witness the Pran-Pratishtha program for the holy idols in the eight temples, including Shri Ram Darbar, on the first floor of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. This auspicious occasion expresses the spirit of Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat. Victory to Siyavar Shri Ramachandra!”

With these combined efforts, CM Yogi Adityanath continues to promote environmental sustainability and cultural pride in Uttar Pradesh, urging citizens to actively participate in preserving nature and celebrating India’s rich spiritual heritage.
