Vijender Gupta called on Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

New Delhi, 4 June : Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Shri Vijender Gupta, met with Union Minister of Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to discuss the ongoing developmental initiatives at the Delhi Assembly and to seek the Ministry’s cooperation and guidance in transforming the Assembly into a Living Heritage Site of national eminence.


Shri Shekhawat assured all possible assistance and expressed his support for the initiative. He will soon visit the Delhi Assembly along with senior officials to assess the project and extend the necessary support to realize the vision of developing it into a Heritage Site.

During the meeting, Shri Gupta apprised the Hon’ble Minister of the various efforts being undertaken by the Assembly Secretariat to preserve and enhance the historical significance of the Assembly building. He emphasized the vision of developing the site as a symbol of India’s rich legislative heritage.

Further, Shri Gupta reiterated the Secretariat’s commitment to the heritage project and extended his gratitude for the Ministry’s proactive support. He acknowledged the participation of officials from the Ministry of Tourism in a key meeting held at the Delhi Assembly on May 20, 2025, where assurances of technical and financial assistance under existing schemes were given.

Shri Gupta also noted the encouraging progress made during a subsequent meeting between the Secretaries of the Ministry of Culture and the Delhi Legislative Assembly held on 23rd May 2025, which marked a significant step forward for the initiative.

The Shri Gupta requested the continued cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism and urged that necessary directions be issued to the concerned officers to assist in finalizing the comprehensive project report. This collaboration is seen as crucial to realizing the vision of designating the Delhi Assembly as a Living Heritage site of national importance.

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Shekhawat told that he would visit the Delhi Legislative Assembly soon, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism, to review the ongoing developmental works in this regard. Further , Shri Shekhawat hoped that Delhi Assembly will transform into a Tourism cum Heritage Hub and that will attract large number of Tourists from all over the world due to its national significance.
