New Delhi, 3 June : Hon’ble Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Shri Vijender Gupta, today visited the Assembly House to review the ongoing renovation and modernization work, which is progressing at a rapid pace.
Shri Gupta was accompanied by the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly and senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), both Electrical and Civil wings.
The Speaker was briefed about the extensive efforts being undertaken to modernize the Assembly infrastructure, especially in light of the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which is currently in full swing. The work is underway to install state-of-the-art systems that will significantly enhance the functioning of the House. The entire House is set to transition into a paperless mode by the upcoming Monsoon Session under the NeVA initiative.
Further, among the new additions, the Delhi Legislative Assembly is implementing a cutting-edge Digital Conference and Networking System under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) to promote transparency, efficiency, and paperless governance. The system includes smart delegate units with microphones, voting panels, RFID/NFC access, and multilingual interpretation support; iPads for members to access agendas and documents in real time; automated AV systems with HD cameras and centralized control; and a robust, secure networking setup with power backup. These high-tech upgrades are expected to assist legislators in effectively discharging their duties within the Assembly.
Hon’ble Speaker also emphasized the importance of integrating modern technology into legislative processes and reiterated the commitment of the Assembly Secretariat to make Delhi’s legislative functioning more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
