NEW DELHI, May 23, 2025: With over two years left before the 2027 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has entered full preparation mode aiming to secure a commanding majority in the civic body. In a strategic meeting held on Friday, senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the MCD House Ankush Narang gathered with all party councillors to kickstart election readiness.
Manish Sisodia conducted a detailed review of ward-level issues and instructed councillors to ensure prompt resolution of public concerns. “Arvind Kejriwal has pioneered a politics based on effective governance across India,” he stated. “Our mission now is to extend this model to every household and strengthen it further.”
During the meeting, Sisodia urged all councillors to stay actively engaged with their constituencies, maintain close public contact, and address local problems efficiently. He emphasized speeding up development work in wards and exposing the failures of the BJP government. “This is the only way to guarantee a decisive victory for AAP in the upcoming municipal elections,” he said.
Highlighting the difference between AAP and traditional parties, Sisodia noted, “Arvind Kejriwal’s governance is rooted in performance, not divisive politics. While many parties rely on caste and religion for votes, our focus remains public welfare. Initiatives such as free education, quality healthcare, zero electricity bills, clean drinking water, and free bus travel for women have become nationwide benchmarks because of our model. We must take this politics of work to every household and push other parties to abandon divisive politics.”
Sisodia also criticized the BJP’s rule, saying, “The BJP came to power in Delhi with big promises and misleading claims. But just three months into the ‘double-engine’ government, people are already facing power outages, contaminated water, and education sector issues. We must oppose every anti-people action by the BJP and reveal their failures so that in the next MCD elections, citizens won’t be fooled by false promises. AAP will form a strong majority government.”
Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj supported this approach and encouraged councillors to win public trust through sincere service. “Leave no gap in serving the people. The public wants genuine effort and care. If you stay connected and solve their problems honestly, they will trust and support you. BJP’s false promises have been exposed, and people feel betrayed. It’s our responsibility to stand with them and deliver real solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, MCD LoP Ankush Narang recalled AAP’s achievements during its previous tenure in the MCD. “We launched many people-centric initiatives, including the proposal to regularize 12,000 contractual employees, which remains unimplemented. The approved property tax rebate is also pending. Our fight to implement these resolutions continues. We must highlight the pro-people work done under AAP and expose BJP’s misgovernance.”
AAP is determined to leave no stone unturned to secure a strong mandate in the 2027 MCD elections. While the party had won a majority in the last civic polls, a small shortfall allowed the BJP to misuse power and obstruct MCD operations. This time, AAP is focused on ensuring smooth governance for Delhi’s municipal affairs without any hurdles.
