Mahendergarh, 15 May: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) units of the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, jointly organized an expert lecture on ‘Know Your Army’ on Thursday. The event aimed to foster awareness among students about the valor and strategic importance of the Indian Armed Forces. The chief guest and keynote speaker was Major General (Retd.) Dr. Ranjit Singh, former Vice-Chancellor of CUH. Captain Hansraj, a social worker and ex-serviceman, graced the occasion as the guest of honor. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of CUH, presided over the event.
The program commenced with welcome address by Lt. (Dr.) Ramesh Kumar, Professor in the Department of Political Science and NCC ANO. He introduced the theme and highlighted the importance of military awareness among the youth. Dr. Pradeep Kumar, NSS Coordinator at CUH, presented the introduction of the guests.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Dr. Ranjit Singh advised students not to be influenced by rumours in the backdrop of ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. Referring to the government’s strong response following the April 22 incident in Pahalgam, he highlighted India’s firm stance and growing military capabilities. Dr. Singh emphasized that India has emerged as a global power on the strategic front and is fully capable of defending itself against any aggression.
He elaborated on the technological advancements and defense strategies employed by India, underscoring the nation’s rise as a strategic superpower. Calling upon the participants to adopt the mantra of “Nation First”, he stated that leadership is crucial in any conflict. He lauded the strong and decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that India is on course to becoming a developed nation and a global power by 2047. Captain Hansraj, in his address, spoke about the unmatched bravery and dedication of the Indian Army. He acknowledged the unwavering faith of the Indian public in its armed forces and emphasized the importance of patriotism and unity during times of national crisis.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, thanked Major General Dr. Ranjit Singh for his enlightening address. He urged students to adopt the spirit of nationalism and trust in leadership. Highlighting the strategic importance of strength, he quoted Prime Minister Modi’s message that “peace is achieved through power” and encouraged students to empower themselves for the future. The Vice Chancellor noted that the impact of a strong nation will be visible in the vision of a developed India by 2047. He added that Operation Sindoor has awakened the youth to India’s true capabilities and strength.
The event also witnessed the distribution of prizes to winners of the university-level essay competition. Saurav won the first prize of ₹2100, Gayatri secured the second prize of ₹1100, Arnab received the third prize of ₹500, and a consolation prize was awarded to Suryansh. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neelam, NSS Program Officer at CUH. On this occasion Prof. Nand Kishore, Prof. Anand Sharma, Prof. Payal Chandel, Prof. Renu Yadav, Dr. A.P. Sharma, Dr. Pradeep Singh, Dr. Mukesh Upadhyay were also present.
