LoP Atishi questions PM Modi: Why was ceasefire announced before avenging Pahalgam attack?

NEW DELHI, 13 MAY: The senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly, Atish, has raised searing questions over the Modi government’s decision to accept a ceasefire with Pakistan before avenging the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam. Targeting PM Narendra Modi directly, Atishi pointed out that the government capitulated to American interference just when the Indian Army was dealing decisive blows to terrorists and their backers.

“Did we get revenge for the ‘Sindoor’ of the country’s sisters and daughters—or was trade with America deemed more valuable than their sacrifice?” she asked, demanding to know why it was Washington, and not New Delhi, that announced the ceasefire, and why Pakistan still hasn’t handed over the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack.

In a digital press conference, the senior AAP leader and Delhi Assembly LoP, Atishi, said, “On 22nd April, a cowardly terror attack took place in Pahalgam. Terrorists attacked unarmed tourists. The entire nation saw the tears of our sisters and daughters. The whole country wanted justice for them.”

She said, “On 7th May, when the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, the whole country stood united with our forces. The Indian Armed Forces proved their strength by striking terrorist camps located in Pakistan.”

The Delhi Assembly LoP further stated, “At that moment, every political party stood firmly with the Government of India because it was a matter of our nation, a matter of justice for the sindoor of our daughters. But on 10th May, suddenly, a ceasefire was announced. Not by India or the Indian Army—but by U.S. President Donald Trump, and that too through social media. Half an hour later, India quietly confirms the ceasefire. Why did this happen?”

She asked, “How did this ceasefire come about? Did we get justice for the sindoor of our daughters? Were the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack handed over to India?”

Atishi sharply criticised PM Modi for failing to answer these critical national questions and said, “Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi held a one-sided dialogue with the nation. He said that Pakistan folded its hands and he felt pity on them, which is why he agreed to a ceasefire. But his statement has raised more questions than it answered, and the whole nation wants to know:

1. If Pakistan folded its hands and India showed mercy by agreeing to a ceasefire, then why wasn’t the announcement made by India or the Indian Army? Why was it made by U.S. President Donald Trump?

2. If Pakistan surrendered to India, why was there no formal agreement or statement to that effect? Why hasn’t Pakistan come forward publicly and admitted defeat?

3. If Pakistan really did fold its hands before India, then did it at least hand over the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack? There is no evidence of this before the nation.”

Atishi added, “Today, there is only one fact in front of us—U.S. President Donald Trump has said that he facilitated the ceasefire. He said he threatened India that if the ceasefire did not happen, the U.S. would stop trade with India.”

She concluded with a direct and sharp question to the Prime Minister: “Prime Minister, the whole nation wants to know—did you agree to the ceasefire because of the threat of a trade ban? Is U.S. trade more valuable than the sindoor of India’s daughters? Until the terrorists responsible for the cowardly Pahalgam attack are handed over to India, the country deserves clear answers from PM Narendra Modi.”
