In ceasefire’s pretext, hands of our Army have been tied—this country demands answers from Modi Govt over this decision: Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI, 13 MAY: The senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia has raised alarming questions over the Centre’s abrupt ceasefire with Pakistan—just days after the brutal Pahalgam terror attack. Pointing out that the Prime Minister is tying the hands of the Indian Army under the guise of ceasefire, Manish Sisodia questioned whether the so-called ceasefire was in fact a diplomatic capitulation, and demanded immediate accountability from the highest office in the country.

“Why a sudden ceasefire with a terrorist nation? If Pakistan was cornered, why did Modi ji agree to the ceasefire without a written deal like Indira Gandhi secured in 1971?” the senior AAP leader asked, as he also demanded justice for the martyrs of Pahalgam and Poonch and pressed for clarity on Washington’s recent statements. “The people of India will not be silenced. This country demands answers.”

Addressing a press conference at the AAP office in Punjab on Tuesday, senior AAP leader and Punjabi Prabhari, Manish Sisodia, said the entire nation is demanding answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “On April 22, our people were brutally attacked by terrorists in Pahalgam. The roots of this attack clearly trace back to Pakistan. The whole country was enraged. Then, during the night of May 6–7, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ and successfully destroyed terrorist hideouts.”

The senior AAP leader stated, “The entire nation felt a sense of dignified relief. The Indian Army was giving a befitting reply to Pakistan—destroying their weapons on land and in the air. Our Army and our nation were in a dominant position. Every political party, across the board, stood united with the Government.”

“Then, on May 10, a sudden ceasefire was announced. Since then, serious questions have been troubling the conscience of the nation. On May 12, at 8 PM, when the Prime Minister addressed the country, everyone expected him to explain this abrupt ceasefire. People were hoping for answers regarding what happened behind the scenes that led to halting the military action. But the Prime Minister remained vague,” he affirmed.

Manish Sisodia further said, “PM Modi mentioned in his speech that Pakistan, under India’s aggressive pressure, started searching for an escape route. This, indeed, is a big development. Pakistan is a terrorist state and has repeatedly orchestrated terror attacks against India. Therefore, it was essential to retaliate.”

The senior AAP leader said that during the military operation, the entire country was emotionally invested and praying for the safety and success of our forces. PM Modi stated that as a result of the action, Pakistan began pleading for de-escalation. On the afternoon of May 10, after facing a severe defeat, the Pakistani Army contacted our Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) and assured them that they would not indulge in any further terror or military misadventures. Subsequently, India decided to pause its response.

“But ever since the Indian Army halted its action, the public is left asking difficult questions. The first and foremost: if the Prime Minister himself acknowledges that Pakistan is a terrorist state, then why was a ceasefire suddenly agreed upon? The entire nation was united in its desire to root out terrorism and teach Pakistan a lesson. The Prime Minister himself, in his address, reiterated that Pakistan is a terrorist country—so why this sudden retreat?” asked Manish Sisodia.

He reasoned, “Second, India was strategically far ahead. Pakistan was unable to defend against our aerial strikes. Pakistan should have surrendered and handed over the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. PM Modi himself claimed Pakistan had folded its hands. Then why, after Pakistan pleaded, did PM Modi agree to the ceasefire? The terrorists sent by Pakistan did not spare our people.”

“In Pahalgam, our sisters were literally begging the terrorists, saying, ‘don’t destroy my sindoor.’ Yet those terrorists did not listen. They brutally murdered their husbands. If they didn’t relent at our people’s folded hands, how did Pakistan’s folded hands convince our Prime Minister?” asked the AAP’s Punjab Prabhari.

Raising a third question, Manish Sisodia said, “If Pakistan was pleading for the war to stop, then why didn’t PM Modi summon the Pakistani Prime Minister and make him sign a written agreement, as was done in 1971? Pakistan’s surrender would have been the Indian Army’s triumph. In 1971, India did not accept verbal surrenders—we got a formal written agreement. And now the Prime Minister says he agreed just because they folded their hands?”

On the fourth question, Manish Sisodia emphasized, “The nation wants justice for the victims of Pahalgam. Prime Minister Modi must clarify how those victims will receive justice now that a ceasefire has been declared. The people are asking: If Pakistan is a terrorist nation, why was a ceasefire declared? When our sisters’ pleas did not move the terrorists, why did Pakistan’s pleas move our Prime Minister? And if Modi Ji truly believes Pakistan will behave moving forward, then why wasn’t a formal written agreement obtained? How will the victims of Pahalgam now get justice?”

The senior AAP leader also raised a serious question regarding international interference. “At the very moment when Indian officials declared a ceasefire, how did US President Donald Trump announce on Twitter that India was calling for a ceasefire? How is it that Trump repeatedly claimed he brokered the ceasefire between India and Pakistan? He also said he had threatened India with a trade ban. The country expected the Prime Minister to sternly rebuke the United States in his address and remind them that India has always resolved issues like Kashmir and terrorism on its own terms.”

Manish Sisodia further affirmed that India has never accepted interference from the US or any other country. Yet, for the first time, the Prime Minister remained silent. His silence suggests something is being concealed. While President Trump made sweeping claims that he coerced India by threatening a trade cut-off, our Prime Minister said nothing. Since 1971, India has held a consistent position that no foreign country will interfere in matters between India and Pakistan.

“India and its Army are fully capable of handling such challenges. Why does India need America now? Trump is openly claiming that he made India bend through trade threats, and in his national address, our Prime Minister does not even say, ‘America, back off—we know how to handle our enemies; we know how to finish terrorism.’ This mysterious silence of the Prime Minister toward America tells a very different story,” he asserted.

Manish Sisodia concluded, “The entire nation is hoping that the BJP and PM Modi will respect the emotions of the people and answer these questions with honesty and clarity.”
