Faridabad, 03 May: In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Police Station Central, Faridabad, has arrested two accused in connection with an online fraud case involving ₹1,10,85,600. The victim, a resident of Sector-14, Faridabad, had filed a complaint that he came in contact with a woman through a dating app, and their conversation later continued over WhatsApp.
The woman persuaded the complainant to invest in trading to earn profits and sent him a link to an app, which he logged into. Over time, the complainant transferred a total of ₹1.10 crore to accounts controlled by the fraudsters. When he later attempted to withdraw the profits, he was asked to pay an additional ₹24 lakh. It was then that he realized he had been defrauded and approached the police. Based on his complaint, a case was registered at Cyber Police Station Central.
According to the police spokesperson, during the investigation, the Cyber Police Central team acted swiftly and arrested two accused—Satyam and Raj Kapoor—from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Raj Kapoor used to provide bank accounts to the fraudsters and had arranged Satyam’s account, which received ₹10 lakh from the cheated amount.
The accused have been taken into police remand for 4 days for further interrogation.
