Delhi Capitals Edge Past Rajasthan Royals in Thrilling Super Over Clash

New Delhi : In an electrifying encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Delhi Capitals pulled off a thrilling win against Rajasthan Royals in the first Super Over of the IPL 2025 season. With both teams locked at a score of 188 runs, the match delivered high drama, standout performances, and a gripping finale that had fans on the edge of their seats.

Put in to bat first after losing the toss, Delhi Capitals put up a competitive total of 188 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Abishek Porel, who narrowly missed out on a half-century, scoring a fluent 49 runs. He was well supported by KL Rahul, who contributed a composed 38, while cameos from the middle order helped Delhi set a challenging target for the visitors.

Rajasthan Royals, known for their explosive batting lineup, started strongly in the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana both struck impressive half-centuries, building a solid foundation for what looked like a comfortable chase. The Royals appeared in control until the final overs, when Mitchell Starc turned the game on its head with a brilliant display of death bowling. The Australian left-arm pacer executed perfect yorkers and slower balls to stifle the Royals’ scoring in the final two overs, restricting them to an identical score of 188, forcing a Super Over.

In the Super Over, Rajasthan sent out Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag to face Starc. Despite their best efforts, they managed only 11 runs, as Starc maintained his accuracy and pace under pressure, conceding just one boundary and taking a crucial dot ball with one delivery left.

Chasing 12 for victory, Delhi Capitals sent KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs to the crease. Both batters batted aggressively but sensibly, running well between the wickets and taking calculated risks.
