PM Modi Engages in High-Level Talks with Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan

New Delhi, April 8,2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today engaged in discussions with the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marking a significant step in enhancing the India-UAE relationship. In a post shared on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed that the Crown Prince’s visit will lay the foundation for even deeper cooperation between India and the UAE in the future.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Dubai has been instrumental in strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. “It was a pleasure to meet His Highness Sheikh Hamdan. Dubai has played a pivotal role in advancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This visit reinforces our long-standing friendship and opens the door for stronger collaboration moving forward,” he wrote.

In a tweet, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the robust and enduring ties between the UAE and India, built on mutual trust, shared history, and a common vision for the future. “It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister @NarendraModi in New Delhi. Our discussions reaffirmed the strength of UAE-India relations, which are founded on trust, shaped by history, and driven by a shared vision to create a prosperous and innovative future,” the Crown Prince said.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) further emphasized the growing relationship between the two nations, noting, “PM @narendramodi met Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. They discussed Dubai’s crucial role in strengthening India-UAE ties in areas such as defense, trade, technology, space, connectivity, and people-to-people relations.”

The visit highlights the UAE leadership’s dedication to establishing strategic alliances with global partners to drive innovation, promote economic growth, and foster collaboration in key sectors, as per the UAE’s state news agency WAM.

India-UAE non-oil trade surged to $54.2 billion in 2023, with Dubai accounting for a significant portion of this growth. Non-oil trade between India and Dubai rose from $36.7 billion in 2019 to $45.4 billion in 2023. Additionally, over 16,000 Indian companies joined the Dubai Chamber of Commerce last year, bringing the total number of Indian businesses in Dubai to over 70,000.

The visit also saw Sheikh Hamdan’s delegation, which included prominent leaders such as Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation. Earlier, the Dubai Crown Prince held meetings with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

In addition to his engagements in New Delhi, Sheikh Hamdan will visit Mumbai to take part in a business roundtable aimed at strengthening India-UAE economic ties. The visit will further enhance the cultural, commercial, and people-to-people connections that Dubai has long facilitated between India and the UAE.
