Hisar, April 1: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday unveiled the statue of Maharaja Agrasen at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College campus in Agroha under Hisar. On this occasion, he patted the back of Haryana BJP state secretary Captain Bhupender (Vir Chakra winner) and praised his contribution to the army, society and party. Amit Shah praised Captain Bhupender’s extraordinary bravery during military operations. Shah said that just as Bhupender has served the country while being in the army, in the same way he will continue to serve Mother India by staying in the party.
It is worth noting that Captain Bhupender, a resident of Mayyad village of Hisar district, has been OSD to former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Chairman of Confed, District President of Hisar BJP. After completing schooling in the year 1988, Captain Bhupender Singh took admission in National Defense Academy Khadakvasla. After successfully completing his training, he became a helicopter pilot in 1991 and after that he created history in the field of bravery. He displayed extraordinary courage by risking his life during his posting in Siachen Glacier. In view of Captain Bhupender’s bravery, the President awarded him the Army’s third highest award, the Vir Chakra, in 1997. These were even more proud moments for the people of Haryana because Captain Bhupender is the first Air Force officer from the entire state to receive the gallantry award. In 2003, after 11 years of courageous and challenging time, Captain Bhupender voluntarily retired.
In 2013, during the Kedarnath disaster, when people were dying in Uttarakhand, Vir Chakra winner Captain Bhupender emerged as a messiah for thousands of people. He himself contacted the Principal Secretary of Civil Aviation, Rakesh Sharma, and expressed his desire to help, telling about his experience of flying in inaccessible areas in adverse conditions. After getting permission, the captain, using his experience, not only organized the rescue operation by giving advance warning to the administration, but also brought more than 500 passengers to a safe place. At that time, experienced pilots had given up. It was only because of Captain Bhupender’s patience, understanding and courage that relief material could reach these villages after 18 days.
Amit Shah also addressed the public in Agroha. He said that the Narendra Modi government has raised India’s health infrastructure by adopting a holistic approach to improve the health sector across the country in the last decade. He said that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty during the tenure of the Modi government. Shah said that four crore houses have been built for the poor, which has provided shelter to 20 crore people.
