Faridabad, March 17: A wave of sorrow has engulfed the city following the demise of Renu Katyal (63), daughter of Vasudev Saluja, the founding president of Faridabad Punjabi Sabha. She had been residing with her family in Kanpur, where her last rites were performed on Sunday. The condolence gathering (Rasam Uthala) will take place on Tuesday, March 18, at Hotel Landmark in Kanpur.
Sanjeev Goldy Saluja, the current president of Punjabi Sabha, shared that his sister, Renu Katyal, had been battling cancer for some time. Her son, Gaurang Katyal, who lives in the United States, had been staying with his parents to care for his ailing mother. He even took her for a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh. Renu Katyal’s daughter, Cheshta, also devotedly looked after her mother during her illness.
Goldy Saluja himself had been with his sister in her final days. Realizing her deteriorating condition, he called their father, Vasudev Saluja, and brother, Pawan Saluja, to Kanpur on March 15, the day after Holi. The news of her untimely demise has left the city in deep shock, as friends and well-wishers mourn the loss of a beloved soul.
