Faridabad, March 16, 2025 – The Asian Institute of Medical Sciences organized a thrilling cycling competition “Asian Cyclothon“ that brought together 375 participants from across the Delhi NCR region. The event, which featured two categories, the 21-kilometer and 10-kilometer marathons, aimed to promote fitness and raise awareness about health. Dr. N.K. Pandey, Chairman & Managing Director of Asian Hospital, flagged off the race, expressing his delight at the growing enthusiasm for health and fitness among the residents of Faridabad.
He said that Faridabad, often compared to cities like Noida and Gurgaon, is now seeing positive changes due to the enthusiasm of participants. He stressed the importance of physical activity, such as cycling, for heart health and overall fitness.
Dr. N.K. Pandey also commended the residents of Faridabad for their commitment to health and highlighted the hospital’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and engage the community in health-focused activities. He emphasized that the hospital will continue organizing such events to promote fitness and prevent illness, highlighting the role of exercise and a healthy diet in maintaining well-being.
The event also saw the presence of several senior hospital members, including Director Anupam Pandey and Director of International Patients Department Neha Pandey.
The 21-kilometer race began at 6:30 AM from the hospital, with participants cycling through the Taj Vivanta Hotel and Kant Enclave before returning to the hospital, while the 10-kilometer race took cyclists from Anangpur and back. The organizers ensured that the participants’ safety and comfort were well taken care of, with medical staff, ambulances, physiotherapists, and hydration stations set up along the route.
The event saw a diverse group of participants, ranging from children to senior citizens, with ages spanning from 10 to 76 years. The competition was divided into two age categories: 10-40 years and 40-76 years.
The winners of the competition were awarded in various categories. In the 21km Women’s Race (Ages 16-40), Pinky Karal took the first prize of Rs. 15,000, followed by Aditi Ghai who won Rs. 10,000 for second place, and Kanika Gupta secured the third prize of Rs. 5,000. In the 21km Men’s Race (Ages 16-40), Ravi Singh claimed the first prize of Rs. 15,000, while Sumit Kumar won Rs. 10,000 for second place, and Sumeesh Saker earned Rs. 5,000 for third place. In the 21km Women’s Race (Ages 40+), Sonia Taneja emerged as the winner, taking home Rs. 15,000, with Ruhi Sood securing the second prize of Rs. 10,000 and Sweety winning Rs. 5,000 for third place. In the 21km Men’s Race (Ages 40+), Sajeev Sharma clinched the first prize of Rs. 15,000, Dheeraj Grover won ₹10,000 for second place, and Saurabh Singh received Rs. 5,000 for third place. In the 10km Race, Simranjeet won the first prize of Rs. 10,000, Dhruv took second place with Rs. 7,000, and Akash Verma secured Rs. 5,000 for third place.
Participants were given T-shirts, medals, and a tracking chip to monitor their cycling times, while winners were rewarded with cash prizes. The event also featured a “Raahgiri” session with lively Zumba and Bhangra performances, adding a fun and energetic vibe to the occasion. In addition to the competitive spirit, the event highlighted the importance of physical fitness and the role such activities play in fostering a healthy community.
The success of the cycling marathon was a testament to the continued efforts of Asian Hospital to promote health awareness and encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles.
