New Delhi, March 12, 2025: In a major crackdown on the illegal e-cigarette trade, the Shahdara Police Special Staff has arrested the kingpin of a banned e-cigarette racket and seized 830 packets of contraband items. The operation marks a significant step in curbing the illegal sale and distribution of electronic cigarettes in the capital.
Acting on a tip-off received on March 11, 2025, the Shahdara Police launched a well-coordinated operation to intercept an illegal consignment. The raid was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Munish Kumar, I/C Special Staff, and supervised by Sh. Gurdev Singh, ACP/OPS/SHD. A police team comprising SI Sunil, SI Arvind, ASI Johar, HC Siddharth, HC Sunil, HC Yoginder, and Ct. Aman was deployed for the mission.
A trap was laid near Durgapuri Chowk, where, around 10:40 PM, a suspect on a motorcycle carrying a suspicious box was identified. When he attempted to flee, he was successfully intercepted near Nathu Colony Chowk.

A total of 820 additional packets of banned e-cigarettes were seized from the warehouse. The case has been registered under FIR No. 136/25 dated 12/03/2025 at P.S. M.S. Park under Sections 4/7 of The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarette Act, 2019.
Police investigations revealed that Priyanshu was the ringleader of the operation, managing a supply chain that ensured discreet transportation and distribution of e-cigarettes. Aditya played a supporting role, handling logistics and deliveries.
Both accused confessed that their motive was to earn quick money to fund a lavish lifestyle, influenced by their affluent peers. Their pursuit of illegal profits has now landed them in legal trouble.
Shahdara Police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on illegal activities and ensuring strict enforcement of the law.
