Ukrainian President Hails ‘Productive’ Talks with U.S. Envoy on War & Aid

Kiev, Feb 21, 2025: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday described his meeting with U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, as “productive,” emphasizing key discussions on battlefield developments, prisoner exchanges, and security assurances.

“We had an in-depth discussion regarding the ongoing conflict, strategies for securing the release of our prisoners of war, and ensuring strong security guarantees,” Zelensky shared on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

The Ukrainian leader expressed gratitude to the United States for its continued support and bipartisan backing. He also reiterated Ukraine’s willingness to formalize “a robust and effective investment and security agreement” with U.S. President Donald Trump.

“We have outlined the fastest and most practical approach to achieving meaningful results,” Zelensky stressed.

Kellogg, who arrived in Kiev on Wednesday, met with Zelensky earlier in the day to discuss U.S.-Ukraine cooperation and the broader geopolitical situation.

According to Ukrainian presidential spokesperson Serhii Nikiforov, a planned joint press conference between Zelensky and Kellogg did not take place, reportedly at the request of the U.S. delegation.

Later on Thursday, Kellogg also met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to explore pathways toward establishing “a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace” in Ukraine.

Following the discussion, Sybiha stated on X that Ukraine remains committed to securing peace through strength and briefed Kellogg on Kiev’s proposed steps for achieving stability in the region.

The meetings highlight ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and fostering deeper international cooperation in the pursuit of peace.
