The Delhi Police, in association with CyberPeace, successfully hosted the award ceremony of the Cyber Challenge – Delhi Police (Hackathon-2024) on 20.02.2025. This grand event marked the culmination of an intensive 36-hour hackathon held on the 18th and 19th of February, where 20 shortlisted teams showcased their technological prowess to tackle pressing cybersecurity challenges.
The hackathon focused on addressing critical digital threats, including misinformation, fake news, digital arrest, women’s safety through predictive analytics, and juvenile gang activity monitoring. Participants, drawn from premier educational institutions and professionals across India, collaborated to develop innovative prototypes aimed at enhancing cyber security and law enforcement capabilities.
The event was graced by Shri Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, as the Chief Guest, along with senior officials of Delhi Police, jury members from DRDO, RRU, NFSU, SAKEC and Uber.
Out of 20 teams, 1 team from each category of problem statement was selected as a winner. The challenge on Counteracting Misinformation and Fake News was won by Cyber Novas (SAKEC, Mumbai), the Enhancing Women’s Safety through Predictive Analytics by Star Gazars (University of Delhi), Social Media Monitoring for Juvenile Gang Activity by Team Ajay (J&K Police) and Combating Digital Arrest Scams by The Incredibles (Jawaharlal Nehru University).
The winning teams were felicitated with cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- each alongwith a certificate and memento recognizing their exemplary contributions to digital security solutions. Their innovative ideas, leveraging artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity techniques, are expected to have a transformative impact on law enforcement strategies.
During his address, Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Shri Sanjay Arora, underscored the critical role of innovation in countering cyber threats. He praised the young participants for their exceptional problem-solving skills and reaffirmed Delhi Police’s commitment to adopting technology-driven approaches for public safety.
Apart from CyberPeace, Startup India was also a partner in the event and the Hackathon was sponsored by Uber.
