CM Atishi registers Granthi Sujan Singh Maharaj of Karol Bagh Gurdwara Sahib; granthis bless her with victory

For ‘Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana’, registration begins with Arvind Kejriwal initiating process by registering Mahant of Marghat Wale Baba Hanuman Mandir

NEW DELHI, December 31, 2024: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, commenced the ‘Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana’ at Marghat Wale Baba Hanuman Mandir, ISBT on Tuesday. The ceremony began with the AAP Supremo, along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal, performing ‘Darshan Poojan’, taking blessings of Lord Hanuman, and registering temple Mahants on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited Gurudwara Sahib in Karol Bagh, registering Granthis who pray for a landslide victory for the Same Aadmi Party (AAP).

Sharing a few snippets from his visit to the Marghat Baba Temple to inaugurate the scheme, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote on his X handle (formerly Twitter): “Today I visited Marghat Baba’s temple (ISBT) and launched the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. Today is the birthday of Mahant ji here. I also celebrated his birthday with him. The BJP tried its best to stop the registration today. But no one can stop a devotee from meeting his God.”

On BJP’s reaction to the scheme, the AAP National Convenor asks, “Will abusing me benefit the nation?” Arvind Kejriwal, addressing criticism from BJP leaders, said on X, “Since the announcement of the ‘Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana’, BJP leaders have been hurling abuses at me. My question to them is: will abusing me benefit the nation? Your party governs 20 states, including Gujarat, where you’ve ruled for 30 years. Why haven’t you honored pujaris and granthis there? Start now—I’ve shown you the way. Instead of abusing me, implement this scheme across your states so that everyone benefits.”

Granthis say, “First government to think of us since Maharaja Ranjit Singh”: CM Atishi

CM Atishi expressed pride in the launch of the ‘Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana’, which Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated on Monday. Speaking at the registration event, CM Atishi said, “Today marks the beginning of registrations under this scheme. Arvind Kejriwal started the process at the Marghat Wale Baba Hanuman Temple, while registrations for granthis began at Karol Bagh’s Gurudwara Sant Sujan Singh Maharaj.”

She added, “During registration, granthis blessed Arvind Kejriwal and me, saying this is the first time since Maharaja Ranjit Singh that a government has thought of granthis. Pujaris and granthis are with us through life’s joys and sorrows. It is the government’s duty to care for them, which is why this scheme was launched. When the AAP government is re-elected in Delhi, every pujari and granthi will receive ₹18,000 as a monthly honorarium.”

BJP is frustrated, unsure of its next move: Sanjay Singh

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP, stating, “Since the announcement of this ₹18,000 monthly honorarium for pujaris and granthis, BJP has been rattled. Despite ruling in 20 states and claiming to be the champions of Hindu interests, they’ve never implemented such a scheme. Instead, they resort to shouting and abusing. If BJP has any moral integrity or respect for pujaris and granthis, let them implement such a scheme in their states. But BJP, fearing electoral defeat, is already losing the battle.”

Delhi is the first state to honor pujaris and granthis: Gopal Rai

AAP Delhi Convenor and Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai, visiting temple pujaris in Vijay Park, said, “Delhi is the first state where Arvind Kejriwal has announced a Pujaru-Granthi Samman Yojana’. This reflects months of deliberation and fulfills long-standing aspirations. The AAP is the first government to publicly commit to providing a monthly honorarium of ₹18,000 to all pujaris and granthis after returning to power in Delhi.”
