New Delhi , 17 Dec , 2024- As part of its commitment to providing world-class education to every child, the AAP government has built a new world-class academic block at Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Mukundpur Village, Burari Assembly. On Tuesday,
CM Atishi inaugurated the new block and dedicated it to the students.
On the occasion, CM Atishi remarked, “This magnificent block, built amidst the dense population and narrow lanes of Mukundpur Village, is even more impressive than private schools.” She added, “Thanks to Arvind Kejriwal ji’s education revolution, today a poor child no longer remains poor. With quality education, they fulfill their dreams.”
CM Atishi further said, “From 1947 to 2015, Delhi’s government schools saw the construction of 24,000 rooms. But in just 10 years, the AAP government has completed 65 years’ worth of work, building over 22,000 rooms.” After seeing the school’s remarkable geography lab, CM Atishi shared, “I studied in a big private school, but even there, they didn’t have such facilities.”
During the inauguration event, children welcomed CM Atishi with a tilak. Later, the school plaque was unveiled, and CM Atishi interacted with students presenting exhibitions before inspecting the school. Local MLA Sanjeev Jha was also present.
On the opening of the new academic block, CM Atishi said, “I am delighted to see such a magnificent building in an area with such a dense population, where in just a small area, there are over 100,000 people. This building, with 36 rooms, is far better than any private school in this entire locality. You won’t find classrooms or labs like these in private schools around here.”
CM Atishi highlighted, “With this new building, especially the girls from Mukundpur Village, who previously had to go to distant schools after 10th grade, will benefit the most. Now, they won’t have to travel far for their education.”
Before this building, due to the overcrowding, there were 80 students in one classroom, which affected the quality of learning. But with the new building, the education standards will improve significantly.
CM Atishi expressed, “When I saw the geography lab, I couldn’t believe such labs existed in government schools. I myself studied in a top private school, but even there, they didn’t have a geography lab. All the models and equipment that we used to read about in books are now available for our students here.”
She added, “There was a time when students were not even allowed to touch the equipment in labs. But today, seeing the confidence of the 11th-grade student who explained each piece of equipment in the lab, I can see that times have changed. That confidence reflects the improvements in the quality of education in our schools. This is what we dreamt of.”
CM Atishi shared, “Ten years ago, when our government came into power, government schools were called ‘tent schools.’ It used to rain inside the classrooms, students sat on mats, and teachers didn’t come regularly. No one wanted to send their children to government schools. Parents, despite their hardship, sent their children to these schools, knowing that no proper education would be provided.”
She continued, “Because of this system, rich families sent their children to expensive private schools where they got quality education and good jobs. But a child from a poor family went to a dilapidated government school and often couldn’t complete their education. Even if they did, they ended up in low-paying jobs. As a result, the rich remained rich and the poor remained poor.”
CM Atishi stated, “Ten years ago, Arvind Kejriwal ji became Delhi’s Chief Minister and envisioned that every child, no matter how poor their family, should receive the best education and the best opportunities in the world. That’s when this education revolution began. Delhi became the first state to allocate 25% of its budget to children’s education. No other state in the country does that today. And this is how the journey of building such amazing school infrastructure began.”
CM Atishi mentioned, “From 1947 to 2015, Delhi’s government schools built 24,000 rooms. But in just 10 years, our government has achieved what would have taken 65 years, building 22,000 rooms. We sent our teachers to institutions like Cambridge, Harvard, and Singapore for training, so they could provide world-class education to our children.”
She added, “As a result, for the past eight years, Delhi’s government school results have been better than those of private schools. Students from poor families who attend government schools have qualified for the JEE and NEET exams and gained admission to top institutions across the country. Last year, over 2,000 students qualified for JEE and NEET exams.”
CM Atishi concluded, “Ten years ago, it seemed like a dream that Delhi’s government schools would outperform private schools. But this has become a reality because the people of Delhi chose a government that values education. We hope the love and support that the people of Delhi have given us for the past 10 years will continue for the next five years.”
*Key Features of the New Academic Block*
* Four-story magnificent building
* 36 classrooms
* 3 state-of-the-art labs
* Principal’s office
* 1000 students from Samta Vihar and Mukundpur Village will benefit
On the occasion of the new academic block’s inauguration, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha from Burari said, “The completion of this building tells the story of a journey. Everything is clear for everyone to see. These two blocks have been built in the last 7-8 years. There are many students here, but even today, 1,500 to 2,000 students from Mukundpur have to go to schools in Model Town and Adarsh Nagar. This new building will reduce that burden.”
He added, “In the past ten years, the improvements in education have given hope not only to the students but also to parents across the country that government schools can be good too. I thank the entire education team because when all government units work together, history is made. This building wasn’t built overnight. It was driven by passion and determination that children in government schools would have infrastructure better than the most expensive private schools. This building is not just a building; it has boosted the confidence of the children and enriched their knowledge.”
Sanjeev Jha concluded, “Arvind Kejriwal says, ‘If we want to move this country forward, give every child quality education, and the country will prosper.’ When I attend annual functions and see the exhibitions the children put up, the confidence and knowledge they display today are a result of the infrastructure that took ten years to build. It was once believed that children of poor parents couldn’t study in good schools, but today, that’s no longer the case. This is the dream the AAP government in Delhi has fulfilled, and it has sparked hope across the country. In 2013, the government school had 17 rooms, and they were falling apart. People were debating whether the children should even go there. Today, that school stands proudly. I believe that next time when Arvind Kejriwal’s government is elected, everything will continue to improve.”
