New Delhi, 12 December: In a historic development today, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal fulfilled the promise he made to the women of Delhi, announcing the commencement of AAP Government’s ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’. The scheme, approved by the Delhi Cabinet today, will provide women above 18 years of age Rs 2,100 in their account every month. Delhi’s women will be able to register themselves from Friday for the scheme. AAP’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, expressed heartfelt pride while addressing the people of Delhi, especially its women, today. “I am here to make two big announcements for my mothers and sisters in Delhi,” he began. Arvind Kejriwal reminded the gathering of his promise to provide direct monetary help every month to every woman in Delhi. With evident joy, he declared, “The Delhi Government held a cabinet meeting this morning, chaired by CM Atishi, and I am proud to announce that the proposal has been passed in the Assembly. From now on, every woman in Delhi will receive a direct monetary help every month.”

The AAP Chief added that this scheme has now been implemented in Delhi. Women will be able to register for this scheme from Friday. I had announced this in March this year and hoped to implement it by April or May. “Unfortunately,” Arvind Kejriwal said adding that, “these people (BJP) filed fake cases against me and sent me to jail. I was in jail for six or seven months. After I came back, I, along with CM Atishi, have been working to implement this scheme. Today, I am very happy that, through our efforts, this scheme is now a reality in Delhi.”

Highlighting the need of this scheme, the AAP Supremo emphasised that we are not doing a favour to our mothers and sisters with this scheme. Women run households, instill good values in their children, and raise them, who are the future of the country. If we can extend even a little help or support to them in their work, we consider ourselves fortunate. Hindu religion says, “Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Tatra Ramante Devata”—where women are worshipped, gods reside. Arvind Kejriwal stated that this scheme will not be an expense for the Delhi Government but a blessing. The blessings of our mothers and sisters will bring prosperity to the Delhi Government. Some people were saying, ‘Arvind Kejriwal is making claims, it won’t happen. It’s impossible. This or that person won’t allow it.’

“But it has happened,” he asserted, saying, “Whatever Kejriwal sets his mind to, he ensures it gets done. No force in the world can stop him. Together with my two crore people of Delhi, we overcome every obstacle and get our work done. No challenge stands in our way.”

Arvind Kejriwal addressed the BJP’s criticisms, saying, “The BJP keeps accusing me, ‘Kejriwal is throwing money away, distributing free ‘revdis.’ BJP people question, ‘Why is free electricity needed? Why provide free bus rides?’ Just today, I heard someone mockingly say, ‘Eating free revdis will make people fat.’”

Confidently, he continued, “Now BJP people are also asking, ‘Where will the money come from? The government doesn’t have enough for this.’ They said the exact same thing in 2013 when I promised free electricity during the elections. Back then, the BJP claimed, ‘Kejriwal is lying. Where will the money come from?’” Arvind Kejriwal remarked, “I want to tell the BJP: I am a magician. I know where to get money from, where to save it, and where to spend it. If I make a promise, I will fulfil it. I said I would provide monetary help to women, and from today, that has started.” With determination to support Delhi’s women, Arvind Kejriwal said, “The Delhi government has officially started this scheme today. However, since elections will be announced in 10–15 days, transferring the money before elections is not possible. But let me assure you, the scheme has been implemented.”

The AAP Chief made another big announcement. Sharing the good news, he stated, “During this process, many mothers and sisters told me, ‘The cost of living is so high.’ I am announcing today that registrations will begin tomorrow, for Rs 2100.”In a message of reassurance and action, Arvind Kejriwal addressed all women in Delhi, saying, “In the next 2–3 days, AAP volunteers will visit every street and every home. Get yourself registered, they will provide you with a registration card—keep it safe. After the elections, Rs 2,100 in cash will be provided.”

The AAP National Convenor asserted that just as I have implemented the Delhi Government’s Mahila Samman Yojana scheme, I will implement the Rs 2,100 one as well. “Just as I provided free electricity, I will implement this too. If someone asks, ’Where will Arvind Kejriwal get the money?’ tell them, ‘Our Kejriwal is a magician. He will wave his magic wand and bring the money,” he remarked. He responded to those claiming AAP might win fewer seats, saying, “Some predict 45 or 50 seats, but I believe that with the hard work of every sister and mother, AAP will win over 60, maybe even 65 seats.”

“Now, it is your responsibility—all the mothers and sisters in Delhi. Everyone must work together to ensure a strong government. Otherwise, these people are very cunning. If we win with fewer seats, they will meddle with the government and buy MLAs. We cannot let that happen. Everyone must work hard, and you all should ensure we win more than 60 seats,” he said to the supporters.

Meanwhile, CM Atishi emphasised that Arvind Kejriwal is the first leader in the history of the country who truly understood a woman’s pain, the first leader who recognised every problem faced by women—whether it’s the education of our children, the treatment of our families, or the need for free bus travel to step outside the house. If there has been one leader in this country who has understood every pain of women and provided solutions to all our issues, it is Arvind Kejriwal.

CM Atishi posted on her ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter), saying, “Arvind Kejriwal Ji had promised to implement the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ to provide cash assistance to every woman in Delhi. Today, the Delhi government has fulfilled this promise. Now, Arvind Kejriwal Ji’s promise is that once the government is formed, every woman in Delhi will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹2100. This is Kejriwal’s guarantee, and its fulfillment is certain.”

After the announcement, a wave of happiness swept among Delhi’s women as they say– ‘If there is a brother, it should be like Kejriwal’

While announcing the implementation of the Women’s Honor Scheme, Arvind Kejriwal stunned the women present by declaring Rs. 2100 to be given every month. This announcement sparked a wave of joy among the women, who enthusiastically chanted, “If there is a brother, it should be like Kejriwal.” After the announcement of Rs. 2100 per month, the happiness on the faces of the women was quite evident.
