New Delhi, November 28, 2024: The much-anticipated Cyber Challenge-Delhi Police Hackathon-2024 was inaugurated on 28th November 2024 at the Delhi Police Headquarters by Sh. Vivek Gogia, Special Commissioner of Police, Operations and Technology & Project Implementation Division. The event, organized in collaboration with CyberPeace Foundation, marks the start of a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing emerging digital challenges through innovation and technology.
The curtain raiser event was attended by participants from several prestigious institutions including Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat, DRDO, MeiTY, National Forensic Science University, Delhi, Startup India, CyberPeace Foundation, and Uber India.
The Cyber Challenge seeks to bring together experts from industries, academia, and students to explore and develop practical solutions to address critical issues like combating digital arrests, fake news, enhancing women’s safety online, and improving social media monitoring systems. This initiative is a part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to make the city safer while leveraging the latest advancements in technology.
In his address, Sh. Vivek Gogia emphasized the importance of technological innovation in modern law enforcement. He highlighted the growing need for collaborative efforts between stakeholders to tackle emerging digital threats. “The challenges in the digital age—whether it is combating fake news, ensuring online safety for women, or managing digital crimes—require multi-dimensional solutions. This Cyber Challenge is an important step toward finding those solutions,” said Sh. Gogia.
The Cyber Challenge will take place in multiple phases with participants from across the nation. Online registration for the event is now open on the Delhi Police website. The finalists will be shortlisted by the second week of January 2025, with the grand finale scheduled to take place from 15th to 16th January 2025 in New Delhi. The winners will be felicitated at an award ceremony on 17th January 2025, where attractive prizes and certificates will be presented.
This initiative reflects the Delhi Police’s commitment to fostering collaboration among law enforcement agencies, technology experts, and academic institutions to create solutions for tackling the growing cyber challenges in society.
